What we believe…..
Episcopalians emphasize the unity of all Christians through common prayer and faith in Jesus Christ.  The Book of Common Prayer is a living book which sets an order of corporate worship, prayer, and a standard for doctrine.  Prayer and praise as a community of faith form the heart of the Episcopal tradition. 
  • We believe the Holy Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments contain “all things necessary to salvation”.  In scripture is found the measure and standard of faith in God.
 
  • We believe God reveals himself in the persons of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.  The mission of the church is to reconcile all people to God and to each other through the risen Christ in the power of the Holy Spirit. 
 
  • We believe the Apostles’ Creed to be the baptismal symbol and statement of basic faith.  The Nicene Creed is the sufficient statement of the Christian Faith.  We use both creeds in worship.
 
  • We believe Christ instituted Holy Baptism and Holy Communion.
The Covenant of Baptism is the sacrament by which God makes us members of Christ’s body, members of Christ’s church and heirs to God’s now and future rule.  Infants and adults are brought into God’s family and redemption. 
Holy Communion or Holy Eucharist is the remembrance of Christ’s life, death and resurrection until his coming again.  All baptized Christians receive communion in which they receive the forgiveness of sins, strength and union with Christ.  We believe in the real presence of the risen Lord in the breaking of the bread.
  • We believe in a bodily resurrection from the dead and a life to come.
 
  • We believe every follower of Christ is a minister of the Church to bear witness to the love and forgiveness of God.  God is love.
  • We believe God calls us “to seek and serve Christ in all persons, loving our neighbor as ourselves”.  God calls us to “strive for justice and peace among all people and respect the dignity of every human being.”  (The Book of Common Prayer, page 305)
